It’s Jane again! My apologies for an error in my post from yesterday. The two options for the allotments are:
- We take on the new lease and management agreement and retain a large degree of control over our rents and how the site develops or
- We stay as we are on our current lease which runs to 2025, but our rent review (due in October) will link us to direct let allotment rents where the starting price for rentals is 46p per sq.m. And this will increase by 8p per sq.m each year. (Currently we are paying 13p rental).
I was wrong to say we would ‘become a direct let set of allotments’, however, the impact remains the same in terms of rents. And the message about people attending the AGM and getting involved in supporting the Committee and the Association, definitely remains the same, especially if we are to avoid these massive rent hikes.
