Its That Time Of Year Again

HEDGES

YES IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR FOLKS. CAN YOU PLEASE ALL START TO TIDY UP AND CUT BACK ALL HEDGES AND ENSURE THAT (UNLESS YOU HAVE JUST JOINED US) THAT AT LEAST 50% OF YOUR GARDEN IS UNDER CULTIVATION AND AS WEED FREE AS POSSIBLE. THE INSPECTION COULD BE ANY TIME OVER THE NEXT 3 MONTHS.  ANY HELP AT THIS BUSY TIME WITH AREAS NEAR YOU WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

RUBBISH

WHOEVER IS STILL BRINGING PERSONAL RUBBISH ITEMS ON SITE AND LEAVING THEM IN THE RECYCLING AREA. PLEASE STOP!  IT IS NOT FAIR ON THOSE OF US WHO HAVE TO GET RID OF IT.   ANY FLY TIPPING ON THIS SITE WILL BE DEALT WITH BY A FORMAL WARNING AND COULD VERY WELL END WITH YOU NOT BEING OFFERED A RENEWED TENANCY.

NOTE

A NEW TENANCY AGREEMENT WILL COME INTO FORCE ON OCTOBER 1ST AND CORRECT CONTROL OF RUBBISH AND INAPPROPRIATE HOARDING OF MATERIALS ON SITE WILL BE PART OF THAT AGREEMENT.  SO BE WARNED PLEASE.

SECURITY

ALSO SOMEONE LEFT THE GATES OPEN ON TUESDAY. WHICH RESULTED IN 3 YOUNG LADIES HAVING A LOOK ROUND.  THEY SCARPERED WHEN I CHALLENGED THEM AND IDIOTICALLY LEGGED IT ONTO THE RAILWAY EMBANKMENT FROM WHICH THEY HAD TO BE SUBSEQUENTLY RESCUED. !!!  WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY LATELY PLEASE DON’T BE COMPLACENT ABOUT SECURITY.

THANK YOU

JACKIE

The allotments Annual General Meeting will be held commencing at 10:00am on Sunday 3rd April 2016 in the poly-tunnel outside the association buildings.  All allotment members are of course urged to attend.

There are a number of important matters which need to be discussed along with the election of officials for the coming year.  With this in mind can you please make every effort to attend as this will be your only opportunity to influence the way YOUR allotments are run and who makes the decisions.

We are also looking to recruit some extra members to the committee to help the few currently running the association.  These allotments belong to you and are run for your personal benefit, the current committee members feel that more of you should become involved in helping with the day to day running of it and the ongoing work that needs to be done on behalf of us all.  Please express your interest to any of the current committee including Jackie Medcalf, Steve York and Steve Williams.  Don’t keep assuming that someone else will be doing it please start to get involved yourself.

Open Day / Show Info Correction

It has been pointed out to me that in my recent posts to the web site I published the show categories from the proper competition show we had last year and in previous years.  This year we are having a fun, ‘no competition‘ show.  There will be no prizes at the show and in publishing the show categories it has led to some confusion with some members who now think there will be a competition.  There will not, I published the table merely as a guide to the types of veggies and flowers you might wish to show it is not a definitive list or an instruction on how they must be shown.  Please ignore it, come and show whatever you want however you want to show it.

Lastly another reminder that Old Park Farm honey is now available for purchase at £4 a jar from Steve York, Steve Williams or Steve Medcalf and of course Jackie.  It’s particularly tasty and was produced on the allotments by Steve Williams bees.  Get some while its still available.
