Compost Delivery

Hi all,  at around 2pm tomorrow (Wednesday 8th April), there will be a delivery of 2 pallet loads of bags of compost which we need to move into the association hut.  If you are around or can make yourselves available for half an hour to help move it it would be greatly appreciated.  Please help if you can.  Thanks.  The Committee.

Thanks to  Pete Eady, Chris Skinner, John Gallagher, Pete Grove, the others who arrived but were late because the delivery came early and the committee for turning up and unloading over two and a half tons of stuff.

One of the members asked me to look at butterfly / bird netting for him.  I have found what appears to be a good source at the following web site:

http://garden-netting.co.uk/acatalog/Butterfly_Netting.html

The company are:
Gardening Naturally, 8 Wilkinson Road, Love Lane Industrial Estate, Cirencester, GL7 1YT
Tel: 01285 654241
Tel: 0845 6800296

They describe their netting as:

Butterfly Protection Netting
Protect your crops from birds and butterflies with butterfly protection netting.

This 7mm square netting is made from UV stabilised HDPE. It is heavy duty and will stop cabbage white butterflies and birds attacking your vegetables.
Light enough to be laid directly over the crops and soft enough to drape, also ideal for covering hoops and cages.
Another brilliant use for this netting is covering ponds to protect them from debris, herons and cats.
Available in widths: 2m/ 4m/ 6m/ 8m.

If your are ordering per metre then the minimum quantity is 3m.

They will be sold this year from the main committee meeting room instead of the poly tunnel which was the case last year.

The room will be open for 5 hours between 10am and 3pm on the following dates for you to purchase anything you need.

  1. Saturday 16th March 2013.
  2. Sunday 17th March 2013.
  3. Saturday 23rd March 2013.
  4. Sunday 24th March 2013.  (Annual General Meeting Day)

There will probably be other dates also, more details to follow.  In the event that you cannot make any of these dates please see either Steve Yorke who can sell you supplies, or Jackie Medcalf.  If you cannot find Jackie give her a call on 07931 950950 who will arrange to meet you at a convenient time to sell you what you want.

Lastly, we would prefer that you pay in cash as chasing owed money can be very time consuming so please attend with the readies.

Although we called a committee meeting last month there were not enough members in attendance for it to be an official meeting. So although Steve, Kay and I discussed a lot of  “housekeeping” matters minutes were not taken.

I am sure most of you have now discovered that the water is on again.  Can I remind everyone that the water charges make up a large proportion of your garden rental.  As our water is on a meter it is important that we conserve as much as we can and don’t waste it.

(Presuming we will not be singing in the rain again this year.)

DO NOT LEAVE TAPS ON OR HOSEPIPES CONNECTED TO THE SYSTEM WHEN YOU ARE NOT THERE.  (This rule is part of your tenancy agreement.)

There has been a slight delay in the arrival of this year’s compost due to problems with the delivery lorry. The compost will be delivered at 9am on Wednesday 13th.  That coincides quite nicely with the rent weekends and it will be available as soon as we have unloaded and sorted it. The prices have gone up a little since last year but its still worth buying it from site and not having to carry it from a shop.  I just need to confirm the final price to you, which I will do before next Wednesday. Please note it will be cash, as you buy, no credit or IOU’s.

If anyone is around at the delivery time your help to unload would be appreciated, although unrewarded (apart from a big thank you)

Lastly a reminder that the AGM is on Sunday 24th March at 10am in the Poly Tunnel.

Everyone who wishes to stand or re-stand for the committee or an officer’s role will need to complete a nomination form which are available from myself or Steve Yorke.  It really would be nice to have more committee members. At the moment there are too few of us to guarantee the minimum number required for meetings etc.

We hope to see you at the AGM.

Jackie

Firstly a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all.

I have put some Dobie’s seed catalogues and order forms in the poly- tunnel in the committee garden. Please have a look and if you wish you can place an order.  All I need you to do is fill in your name and garden number on an order form (where it says members name).  Then fill in what seeds you require in the left hand column. Please complete that bit in full.

Let me have the top two copies. You can leave them in the tray on the table if you like.

I will send you a bill for the total price when I know how much discount to take off.  The discount depends on getting over £100 worth of orders.  So plan ahead please.

You have until Saturday 2nd February. I will send the orders off on that Sunday.

PLEASE RETURN THE CATALOGUES SO OTHERS MAY LOOK AS WELL

I am hoping to recruit more Association Committee Members for the coming year at the AGM on March 24th.

You need to be willing to attend a meeting every other month and willing to be pro active when things need doing. If you are interested please have a chat with me. You will need to be proposed by someone and seconded by someone else.

Jackie
